Director of Security Operations (SOC)

About the role

Cyderes is seeking a Director of Security Operations to lead its SOC squad, delivering 24/7 monitoring, threat detection, and incident response for clients. The role combines technical leadership with customer‑facing advisory responsibilities, reporting directly to the VP of Cyderes Defense.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and mentor SOC managers, analysts, and senior security staff.
• Oversee 24x7 security monitoring, threat detection, investigation, and incident response.
• Drive continuous improvement of SOC processes, technology, automation, and detection capabilities.
• Evaluate and adopt AI, machine learning, generative AI, and agentic AI to enhance operations.
• Establish and monitor KPIs, SLAs, incident metrics, and service quality.
• Partner with Threat Intelligence, Detection Engineering, Customer Success, and other teams.
• Serve as senior escalation point for major incidents and customer concerns.

Required profile

• 12+ years in SOC, MDR, MXDR, or security operations environments.
• 5+ years in leadership roles (Manager, Senior Manager, Director) within security operations.
• Proven experience leading large, geographically distributed security teams.
• Customer‑facing leadership experience with senior partners.
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT, or related field.
