Claims Team Leader

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Claims Team Leader to head a small team of claims handlers in our Gibraltar office. The role combines hands‑on team management with full ownership of fraud investigation and the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), driving efficiency, accuracy and customer outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop a small claims team, managing daily operations, workload allocation and performance targets.
• Oversee end‑to‑end claim handling, ensuring accuracy, fairness and compliance with policy terms and regulations.
• Review and authorise complex, high‑value or contentious claims, providing technical guidance.
• Conduct regular file audits, peer reviews and quality checks, identifying training gaps and process improvements.
• Own the SIU function, develop fraud strategies, investigate suspicious claims and liaise with external agencies.
• Analyse claims and fraud data to spot patterns, and drive the use of technology and AI tools for detection and automation.
• Prepare performance reports and fraud metrics for the Claims Director and monitor team KPIs.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 + years’ experience in insurance claims, preferably property or technical product insurance.
• Proven experience in a Team Leader, Supervisor or Senior Claims Handler role.
• Visible experience in fraud investigation and detection.
• Strong analytical, decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent leadership and people‑management skills.
