Commercial Procurement Lead

About the role

Mitie is seeking an experienced Commercial Procurement Lead to direct procurement, tendering and supply‑chain activities for its Overseas Prime Contract in Gibraltar. The role will shape procurement strategy, strengthen governance and support delivery of critical infrastructure, engineering and facilities‑management services within a complex defence environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead procurement and tendering activity across the Gibraltar contract, managing competitive tender processes, RFQs and supplier selection.
• Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships, oversee onboarding and preferred‑supplier management, and monitor performance against cost, quality and service targets.
• Drive procurement governance, assurance and compliance, including purchase‑order controls, reporting and supplier payment processes.
• Support commercial colleagues with market intelligence and procurement insight, and work with operational teams to define requirements and challenge specifications.
• Lead and develop the procurement team, promoting best practice and building effective relationships with client representatives, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Significant experience in procurement, sourcing, supply‑chain or subcontract management, preferably within construction, engineering, infrastructure, hard FM or defence environments.
• Proven ability to lead tendering and competitive procurement processes and manage supplier performance and compliance.
• Strong commercial awareness, risk‑management capability and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.

Required skills

• Experience with procurement systems such as Coupa.
• CIPS qualification or membership.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts.
• Spanish language proficiency.
