Operations Manager – Banking

About the role

Our client, a leading bank, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and develop the Operations function. This senior leadership position is responsible for delivering, controlling and continuously improving operational activities across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day performance of the Operations function and oversee key operational areas.
• Drive implementation of operational change initiatives, process improvement, automation and digitisation.
• Support the bank’s transition to a data‑driven, scalable operating model.
• Coach, develop and succession‑plan a multi‑disciplinary operations team, reducing key‑person dependencies.
• Oversee reconciliations, operational controls, break management and audit readiness.
• Act as escalation point for operational incidents and control issues.
• Collaborate with Risk, Compliance and Finance to ensure regulatory and operational compliance.
• Develop and monitor operational KPIs, service metrics and use data to identify improvement opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading operational teams within banking or financial services.
• Ability to balance business‑as‑usual operations with strategic change programmes.
• Track record of successful process improvement and automation initiatives.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and management information.
• In‑depth knowledge of customer onboarding, transaction processing, reconciliations, controls and operational risk frameworks.
