Tech Lead / Staff Java Engineer

About the role

This senior technical leadership position involves designing complex, highly‑scalable systems for a fast‑growing international technology business in the social gaming and digital entertainment space. You will drive engineering best practices, embed AI‑driven development throughout the lifecycle, and mentor a team of engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable Java architectures.
• Lead technical discussions, code reviews and enforce engineering best practices.
• Mentor engineers and champion technical excellence.
• Design and optimise PostgreSQL databases and complex queries.
• Architect high‑volume messaging systems using Kafka.
• Own complex production issues, ensuring reliability and performance.
• Collaborate across engineering and wider technical teams.

Required profile

• Extensive commercial experience with Java and deep JVM knowledge.
• Proven system design and architecture expertise.
• Advanced relational database experience, especially PostgreSQL.
• Hands‑on experience with Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting, concurrency and security skills.
• Previous technical leadership or mentoring experience.
• Upper‑intermediate English proficiency.
