Legal Counsel, Corporate & Business Affairs

About the role

GiveDirectly is seeking a senior Legal Counsel to build its Business Affairs capability and serve as the primary legal partner to global functions. The role focuses on structuring complex corporate, commercial, funding and charitable relationships, with an initial priority on data‑partnerships and remote enablement.

Key responsibilities

• Structure, draft and negotiate complex corporate partnerships, funding arrangements, technology and vendor agreements.
• Advise on corporate, commercial, employment, privacy, nonprofit and operational matters across multiple teams.
• Develop templates, playbooks and repeatable approaches for recurring legal work.
• Lead legal strategy for Data Partnerships, including privacy, consent, data‑sharing agreements and regulator engagement.
• Support fundraising, charitable giving, public affairs and compliance with nonprofit regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Qualified attorney in at least one jurisdiction with relevant post‑qualification experience.
• Strong corporate, commercial and transactional background, including complex partnership negotiations.
• Demonstrated expertise in data privacy and data‑protection matters.
• Ability to understand unfamiliar legal frameworks and develop practical solutions.
• Experience advising multiple functions and building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
