Interim Head of Finance (Insurance) – Gibraltar

About the role

Zego Insurance Limited (ZIL) is the regulated insurance carrier in Gibraltar. As Interim Head of Finance you will own the financial health, accuracy and operational integrity of the carrier, reporting directly to the Group Finance function and working closely with the Actuarial team.

Key responsibilities

• Own the general ledger and insurance balance sheet in NetSuite, ensuring accurate accounting for premiums, claims, commissions, reinsurance recoveries and profit‑share arrangements.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close, producing management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) tailored to an insurance carrier and meeting Group and Board deadlines.
• Prepare and submit annual statutory accounts under UK GAAP (FRS 102) and Gibraltar Companies Act requirements, and support regulatory returns to the GFSC.
• Reconcile all balance‑sheet, bank, fiduciary and inter‑company accounts monthly, and align the ledger with actuarial reserves before submission.
• Act as the bridge between Finance and Actuarial, validating and integrating technical reserve calculations and supporting capital management.
• Design, implement and enforce robust financial controls and assume personal regulatory responsibility for reporting accuracy and timeliness.

Required profile

• Deep expertise in insurance carrier accounting and technical reserve methodology.
• Hands‑on “player‑coach” experience leading a lean finance function (one direct report).
• Proven track record with month‑end/year‑end close, statutory reporting under UK GAAP (FRS 102) and Gibraltar regulatory standards.
• Ability to work closely with actuarial teams and to manage regulatory relationships with the GFSC.
