About the role
We are seeking a Payments & Settlements Analyst to join our Payments team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong interest in financial operations and payments to develop their experience within a fast‑paced environment.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure daily fulfilment of both crypto and fiat settlement, identifying and flagging any defaulting parties.
- Approve cryptocurrency withdrawals across in‑house and third‑party custody platforms, adhering to strict security procedures.
- Authorise fiat payments through various banking platforms, ensuring timely delivery of client funds and accurate record‑keeping.
- Proactively monitor intraday exposure to counterparties and trading members, identifying shortfalls and working cross‑functionally to meet settlement obligations.
- Ensure all settlement activities comply with operational risk frameworks and provide reporting and root‑cause analysis on recurring payment issues.
- Work closely with internal teams (treasury, broker operations, etc.) to resolve settlement issues swiftly and act as the key operational contact.
- Escalate operational issues promptly, participate in investigations and control enhancements.
- Monitor end‑to‑end payment flows, identify anomalies and implement corrective actions.
- Stay up to date with industry regulations and best practices related to payments and settlements.
- Work Monday‑Friday with occasional weekend on‑call and UK bank holiday work; assist with ad‑hoc/month‑end projects as assigned.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in payments, banking, financial operations, settlements or reconciliations is desirable.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to review financial information accurately.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, spreadsheets and data analysis.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
- Willingness to learn and develop knowledge of payment processes, banking systems and settlement procedures.
- Proactive approach to identifying and escalating issues, focusing on procedures and operational risk.
