Engineering Operative

About the role

The Eliott, Gibraltar’s premier hotel, is seeking an Engineering Operative to maintain and enhance the functionality of guest suites, meeting rooms, restaurant, bar and common areas. You will ensure all facilities run safely, efficiently and to the highest standards while minimizing disruption for guests.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned, reactive and preventative maintenance covering carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting and tiling.
• Monitor building safety, conduct fire drills and enforce Health & Safety procedures.
• Respond promptly to guest and departmental maintenance requests, delivering high‑quality service.
• Identify energy‑saving opportunities and support sustainability initiatives.
• Complete daily, weekly and monthly checklists, manage equipment supplies and assist other hotel departments during peak periods.

Required profile

• Previous maintenance experience in the hospitality sector is highly desirable.
• Sound knowledge of electrical work, hand and power‑tool operation and general building maintenance.
• Strong interpersonal abilities, computer literacy and flexible task management.
• Valid right to work in Gibraltar at the time of application.
