Head of Finance – Gibraltar

About the role

As Head of Finance for Zego Insurance Limited, you will be the ultimate owner of the carrier’s financial health, accuracy and operational integrity. This is a hands‑on “player‑coach” position reporting to Group Finance and working closely with the Actuarial team.

Key responsibilities

• Own the general ledger and insurance balance sheet in NetSuite, recording premiums, claims, commissions, reinsurance recoveries and profit‑share arrangements.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close, producing management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) for Group and Board reporting.
• Prepare and file annual statutory accounts under UK GAAP (FRS 102) and Gibraltar Companies Act requirements, and support regulatory returns to the GFSC.
• Reconcile all balance‑sheet, bank, fiduciary and inter‑company accounts each month and align the ledger with actuarial reserve calculations before submission.
• Act as the bridge between Finance and Actuarial, validating and integrating technical reserve calculations such as IBNR.
• Design and enforce robust financial controls and maintain personal regulatory responsibility for timely, accurate reporting.

Required profile

• Deep expertise in insurance carrier accounting and technical reserves, distinct from broker or agency finance.
• Experience managing a lean finance function with direct reports.
• Strong understanding of Gibraltar and insurance regulatory standards.
• Ability to work in lockstep with Actuarial and Group Finance teams.
