Head of Insurance Finance

About the role

Zego Insurance Limited is seeking a Head of Insurance Finance to own the financial health, accuracy and operational integrity of its regulated insurance carrier. This hands‑on player‑coach position leads a lean finance function while working closely with the Actuarial team and Group Finance.

Key responsibilities

• Own the general ledger and insurance balance sheet in NetSuite, ensuring accurate accounting for premiums, claims, commissions, reinsurance recoveries and profit‑share arrangements.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes, producing management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) tailored to an insurance carrier and meeting Group and Board deadlines.
• Prepare and submit annual statutory accounts under UK GAAP (FRS 102) and Gibraltar Companies Act requirements, supporting regulatory returns to the GFSC.
• Reconcile all balance‑sheet, bank, fiduciary and inter‑company accounts each month, aligning the ledger with actuarial reserves before submission.
• Partner with the Actuarial team to understand, validate and integrate technical reserve calculations (IBNR, etc.) into financial reporting.
• Design, implement and enforce robust financial controls and ensure compliance with Gibraltar and insurance regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in insurance carrier accounting, including technical reserves and regulatory reporting.
• Deep knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102) and Gibraltar Companies Act requirements.
• Proven ability to manage end‑to‑end accounting cycles for a balance‑sheet insurer.
• Strong track record of building and leading a high‑performing finance function.
