Head of Underwriting Oversight

About the role

The Head of Underwriting Oversight will provide strategic direction and governance for underwriting activities across Admiral Insurance Gibraltar Limited (AIGL) and its UK operations. Based in Gibraltar, the role works closely with the Group Head Office, external pricing partners and regulatory bodies to ensure a customer‑first approach and compliance with the Customer and Consumer Duty.

Key responsibilities

• Build and manage partnerships with outsourced pricing and underwriting teams (EUI Limited and Able), aligning them with AIGL’s values.
• Provide oversight of underwriting performance across all product lines, ensuring high standards and best‑practice sharing.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including Customer and Consumer Duty, and act as the point of contact for regulatory queries.
• Deliver quarterly updates to the AIGL board on policy term variations, pricing changes, market segment shifts, portfolio updates and legislative impacts.
• Collaborate with actuarial reserving, distribution intermediaries and reinsurers to optimise loss ratios and product governance.
• Analyse monthly underwriting trends, review new product proposals and support business planning processes.

Required profile

• Deep experience in insurance underwriting and/or pricing.
• Familiarity with Gibraltar and/or UK regulatory frameworks and audit processes.
• Strong understanding of Customer and Consumer Duty principles and fair‑value assessment.
• Proven ability to build trusted relationships with TPAs, reinsurers and senior leaders.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
