Interim Finance Lead

About the role

Zego Insurance Limited is seeking an Interim Finance Lead to own the financial health, accuracy and operational integrity of its Gibraltar‑based insurance carrier. This hands‑on player‑coach role will manage the full accounting cycle, ensure compliance with Gibraltar and insurance regulatory standards, and act as the finance bridge to actuarial functions.

Key responsibilities

• Own the general ledger and insurance balance sheet in NetSuite, recording premiums, claims, commissions, reinsurance recoveries and profit‑share arrangements.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes, delivering management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) to agreed Group and Board deadlines.
• Prepare and file annual statutory accounts under UK GAAP (FRS 102) and Gibraltar Companies Act requirements, supporting GFSC regulatory returns.
• Reconcile all balance‑sheet, bank, fiduciary and intercompany accounts each month, aligning the ledger with actuarial reserves before submission.
• Partner with the actuarial team to validate and integrate technical reserve calculations (IBNR, UPR, URR, etc.) into the ledgers.
• Support Solvency II reporting and capital management activities.

Required profile

• Deep expertise in insurance carrier accounting and technical reserves, not broker or agency finance.
• Experience with Gibraltar‑regulated insurance entities and personal regulatory responsibility for financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102) and Gibraltar Companies Act reporting requirements.
• Proven ability to design and enforce robust financial controls in a fast‑moving, AI‑enabled environment.
