Risk Manager – Insurance (Gibraltar/Malta)

About the role

The Risk Manager will lead the risk management function for the Group’s Mediterranean insurance and broker businesses, covering Gibraltar and Malta. Reporting to the Group Head of Risk, the role ensures that risk governance, reporting and oversight meet Group standards, local regulator expectations and Solvency II requirements while embedding sustainability and climate considerations.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the designated risk management function holder for the Gibraltar and Malta insurance carriers.
• Maintain and enhance the risk framework (risk appetite, metrics, registers, assessments, emerging risks) across Mediterranean operations.
• Prepare and present quarterly risk reports, ORSA inputs and other risk materials to senior management, boards and committees.
• Support internal audit, regulatory visits and external examinations.
• Deliver risk training and awareness programmes.
• Integrate sustainability and climate‑change factors into risk processes.
• Assist with jurisdiction‑specific regulatory risk requirements, including governance, policy review and reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in a risk role within financial services, preferably insurance or broking.
• Strong understanding of insurance risk management in a regulated environment.
• Familiarity with Solvency II, ORSA and local regulator expectations (Gibraltar Financial Services Commission, Malta Financial Services Authority).
• Ability to work closely with senior management and cross‑functional teams.
