About the role
Lead the Risk and Compliance function for The AA’s Gibraltar‑regulated insurance company, reporting to the CEO of AAUICL and the Group Chief Risk Officer. You will shape risk, capital and regulatory decision‑making across the end‑to‑end insurance value chain, including underwriting, claims and customer outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Own and continuously improve the enterprise risk management framework, including risk appetite, policies, controls, key risk indicators and reporting.
- Lead the annual ORSA, integrating business planning, capital management, stress testing and scenario analysis.
- Provide independent second‑line challenge and assurance to the Board, Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee on material risks, controls and regulatory compliance.
- Act as Risk and Compliance Function Holder, maintaining regulatory relationships and coordinating GFSC notifications, returns and Solvency II submissions.
- Oversee compliance monitoring, regulatory change and conduct/customer‑outcome risks across the business model.
- Challenge risk and compliance in outsourcing and intra‑group arrangements, ensuring operational resilience.
- Lead and develop the Risk and Compliance team, ensuring incidents, breaches and regulatory actions are identified and remediated.
Required profile
- Significant senior‑level risk and compliance experience within a general insurer or Solvency II‑regulated financial services environment.
- Strong practical knowledge of Solvency II, including governance, ORSA, SCR, own funds, risk appetite and capital planning.
- Proven ability to design, operate and improve enterprise risk, compliance monitoring and control assurance frameworks.
- Experience engaging Boards, executives, auditors, actuaries and regulators with constructive independent challenge.
- Understanding of UK insurance conduct and customer‑outcome expectations, especially in a group or outsourced model.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to translate complex analysis into concise Board‑level advice.
