Banking Officer – Back‑Office Operations

About the role

The Banking Officer will support back‑office banking processes, reporting to the Head of Banking. The role is office‑based and involves handling account openings, payments, securities, money markets and foreign exchange transactions while ensuring compliance with KYC and AML requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Handle, verify and complete all account opening documentation and compliance checks (KYC, AML, CRS, FATCA).
• Coordinate with Companies and Trusts Departments and Legal Fee Earners to understand client structures for application completion.
• Process receipt of instructions for payments, securities, money market and FX, including SWIFT, SEPA and BACS transactions.
• Set up and modify online banking user rights, manage standing orders, and investigate payment issues.
• Prepare and distribute quarterly invoices, follow up on cash collection, and recommend process improvements.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 GCSEs (A‑C) or equivalent, including Mathematics and English.
• Experience in a client‑facing administration role within professional or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of banking processes, compliance guidelines and relevant software.

Required skills

• KYC and AML compliance
• SWIFT, SEPA, BACS payment processing
• Viewpoint banking software (advantage)
• Microsoft Office suite – Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel
