Financial Controller – Remote (Work from Anywhere)

About the role

As Financial Controller you will own the integrity of financial reporting for Xapo, a Bitcoin‑first regulated credit institution. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will lead the Financial Controlling and Regulatory Reporting teams and manage the full accounting cycle from draft to sign‑off.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare consolidated and entity financial statements under IFRS and FRS 102, manage month‑end and year‑end close for a multi‑entity group.
• Lead regulatory reporting to the GFSC and FCA, including prudential capital and liquidity returns.
• Run the external audit process, act as main contact with auditors and ensure timely completion.
• Support technical accounting decisions, especially crypto‑asset accounting under IFRS.
• Drive finance process improvement and automation using NetSuite, AI and BI tools.
• Lead, develop and mentor the Financial Controlling and Regulatory Reporting teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred.
• Minimum 5 years experience as a Controller, preferably in banking, fintech or crypto.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, FRS 102 and regulatory reporting (Basel, COREP).
• Experience managing external audits and tax compliance, including crypto‑asset tax treatment.

Required skills

• NetSuite proficiency.
• Advanced Excel / Google Sheets.
• SQL or BI tools (e.g., BigQuery, Looker).
• Familiarity with AI‑driven automation tools.
