Job description
About the role
Reka, a globally distributed foundation model startup focused on multimodal AI, is hiring a Member of Technical Staff (Data Intelligence). You will work closely with model researchers, data infrastructure engineers and cross-functional partners to ensure data is high quality and can be produced at petabyte scale reliably and efficiently. The role spans understanding how data choices affect model behavior, building processing pipelines and running the compute behind them.
Key responsibilities
- Work with model researchers to define what "good data" means, including quality metrics, validation checks and acceptance thresholds.
- Explore open source datasets and create internal ones suited to building fundamental World Models.
- Build algorithms for automated data quality assessment, data domain mixtures and domain adaptation from synthetic to real data.
- Track datasets, metadata, provenance and versions so experiments are reproducible.
- Own CI/CD and development tooling for the data stack (GitHub, Python, PyTorch) and automate repetitive workflows.
- Track and optimize throughput, storage and compute utilization across pipelines.
Required profile
- Strong ML and deep learning fundamentals with experience building and operating large-scale data and/or compute systems.
- Comfortable moving between research questions and production engineering.
- Demonstrated research experience with data compositions, quality and dataset releases.
- Able to design and run experiments with convincing unbiased outcomes.
- Ability to work in a fast-moving environment, prioritize and communicate clearly with researchers and engineers.
Required skills
- Practical experience with distributed processing and orchestration (Spark, Ray, Airflow or equivalents).
- Solid Python skills and familiarity with modern model training tooling (datasets, checkpoints, experiment tracking).
- Strong instincts for measuring, monitoring and preventing regressions in data quality.
What we offer
- Remote-first work with a globally distributed team.
- 5 weeks of paid leave and comprehensive healthcare benefits including vision and dental.
- Visa support, including H1B and OPT transfers for US employees.
